Aromatherapy This relies on the use of essential oils, which are made from plants. If you go see an aromatherapist they will ask you some questions and then make up a special blend of different oils. Usually the oils are applied to you during a massage but the oils can also be put in baths or inhaled. Aromatherapy can be particularly useful if you are suffering from stress. Since bereavement is one of the most stressful things you can ever go through aromatherapy can be ideal to help you deal with the stress. Not only do you get the benefit of the psychological effects from the plants you could also get the benefit of a massage which is another way to help you relax. Double pleasure! If you want to use oils at home, then advice should be sought as they can have a powerful effect on how you feel. Only a couple of drops are usually needed to have an effect, whether using them in the bath or mixed with a carrier oil (eg. vegetable oil) for massage etc. Oil should not be applied neat to the skin or ingested (drunk/eaten!
