Friends As you grow up you may have lots of friends and as you get older a strong bond develops between you and some of your friends. You would do just about anything for each other. In some ways, friends are the family that you get to choose. The death of a friend can have a huge impact upon you. The time you spent with them was because you wanted to. You got up to mischief with them and had some really good times. Who will you now share that part of your life with? Sometimes a friend can mean even more to you than some family members. Yet you don’t seem to get the same recognition that the family members who have lost your friend do. It may have been said carelessly in passing that "They were only your friend". It may seem that no-one can understand the bond of friendship that was between you.
