How Long Does Grief Last? Grief is not something that goes away overnight. It can last for months or even years. Be patient with them and give them understanding. Encourage them to be patient with themselves and to look after themselves. Remember that anniversaries can bring all the feelings back, even years later. Bereaved young adults appreciate being remembered at these times and support can be helpful.
